The Ang Kaew Reservoir is the main body of water located just by the Chiang Mai University. This artificial lake is a popular morning jogging trail for locals and expats because of its flat roads and the surreal, tranquil environment.
A visit here will also give you a glimpse of the majestic Suthep Mountain, which stands out behind the forest.
Ang Kaew Reservoir, Opening Hours & Address, Chiang Mai University
It’s also worthwhile visiting the Chiang Mai University while you’re there. It’s one of the most beautiful schools in Thailand; a campus surrounded by lush greens. Visitors can take a tour in one of the electric buses which charge around 20 baht for kids and 50 baht per adult. The tours last 40 minutes, and here you’ll learn in detail about the university, its various departments and many buildings, as well as its rich history.
The campus also has massive gardens that make a great background for your photos. The halls within the school are striking; designed with traditional Thai dacor, and some areas even have sparkling gold touches. The school’s main entrance is found along Huay Kaew Road, but it’s also the only entrance from which tourists may enter. Be prepared with a passport since the security guards will ask for some identification. The Chiang Mai University is open from 9AM to 5PM.
Together, a visit to the Ang Kaew Reservoir and school is a great way to spend a relaxed day while you’re in Chiang Mai.
