Baanchang Elephant Park

Baanchang Elephant Park states that it is dedicated to offering rescued elephants the best care possible and allows visitors to come and see these beautiful creatures in their park.

Visitors to Bannchang Elephant Park can come for 1, 2 or 3 days as there are a number of tours offered. This sanctuary rescues elephants from unsuitable living conditions such as circuses, and illegal logging camps. This park allows bareback riding. Those wanting to visit a park that does not allow riding should visit the Elephant Nature Park instead.

Baanchang Elephant Park, Price of Ethical Day Tours from Chiang Mai

The tours offer to pick up from your hotel at around 6.30am or 8.30am (depending on the tour chosen) and return to your hotel at 2.30pm or 4.30pm. If you are staying for multiple days, your tour will include overnight accommodation. After pickup, you will be taken for a 50-minute drive through the countryside out to the park.

On arrival at the park, visitors choosing the Mahout Training tour will be allowed to feed the elephants, ride an elephant (bareback, without a seat), get involved in a bath session as well as train the elephants with their instructors. You will learn about the elephant’s body language, how the trainer creates a relationship with the elephants here as well as the spoken commands used to guide and control the elephants. Shorter tours will offer feeding, bathing and walking with an elephant.

You will also be provided with lunch as part of your tour. You should make sure to bring a hat, sunscreen, camera, insect repellent, a towel, thongs/sandals and a change of clothing if you plan to get wet with the elephants.

The Elephant Park is funded exclusively by visitors and donations and the money received goes towards caring for the elephants as well as rescuing new elephants.
