The palace also doubles up as the royal accommodation for guests of the state from international circles. This came as a drastic change following the relocation of this residence from Thailand’s capital, Bangkok.
Built-in the mid-20th century, Bhubing Palace started off with just the guest rooms and the royal residence, but other rooms were added in subsequent years to make it the attraction it is today. While you may not spend a night at the royal palace, a tour of one of the most opulent locations in northern Thailand will suffice.
Since this remains official residence, it is important that basic etiquette is observed. This means maintaining reasonable tones when talking as well as appropriate dressing. This includes covering knees and shoulders. If you don’t have appropriate clothing, you can hire clothing from stalls located outside the residence.
Tickets are available daily, except between January and March when Bhubing Palace is closed to the general public due to the royal visit by dignitaries.
