There are over 250 species and 25,000 fish housed at the aquarium. You will also find some reptiles including lizards and snakes inside the aquarium in specially designed enclosures.
There are a number of fun scheduled activities for visitors to enjoy including Shark and Ray Feeding Show, Koi Feeding Show, Nozzle Stingray Feeding Activity and a Synchronised Swimming Show. Visitors are also able to pre-book a scuba diving session where they can get immersed in the Aquarium and dive with the sharks and fish!
Kids will also love the Zip Line located here where you can fly 200 metres over the Chiang Mai Zoo and Aquarium. You can also opt to take a water bike out on the lake with your family and enjoy the waterfall located here. The cost is minimal at only 60 THB for 15 minutes or 100 THB for 30 minutes.
You can get to the zoo by taking a red truck (songthaew) which will cost around 40 THB from the old city. Otherwise a tuk tuk will cost around 100 THB, depending on how well you haggle. If driving your own scooter, parking is available at about 20 THB per bike for the day.
You will need to purchase admission to the Chiang Mai Zoo in order to access the aquarium. Combo tickets are available which makes entry to both attractions a little cheaper. The aquarium is located quite a walk into the Zoo, about 1 kilometres walk from the entrance, so you are best to catch the shuttle for 20 THB that will take you to the aquarium entrance.
Does Chiang Mai zoo accept credit cards?
Hi Charles,
Best to take cash, as I don’t recall seeing any credit card machines at the ticket booths. Thailand is a cash driven economy, so I wouldn’t rely on many places taking credit card – even the most popular tourist attractions!
Kind regards,
Jess
