Loi Kroh Road

Loi Kroh Rd is considered as Chiang Mai’s red-light district area; located between the Ping River and the Old City moat.

This street is where you will find girlie bars and other similar bars, clubs, and watering holes in the area.

This road is known among visitors who are looking for new female friends in Chiang Mai; thus, it isn’t recommended for visiting families or those looking for more wholesome recreational activities. However, if the Patpong red-light district of Bangkok has overwhelmed you, this area is much more toned-down. There are also numerous massage shops, but aside from those, visitors can enjoy the many temples, handicraft shops, and wood carving places to explore here during the day. The popular temples nearby are Wat Loi Kroh and Wat Phan Tong.

The Kotchasan Road area of this strip is very busy at night from 7pm onwards. This is where you will find more aggressive local girls who will try to talk to just about any male visitor. They work for the bars and clubs here and will try and entice you to come in for a drink. Check out one of the many long-standing girlie bars and establishments in the area for a different spin on a night out; especially if you prefer the company of friendly Thai women.

There are over 20 pubs and beer bars found on the main road. Most of them will have many beautiful Thai women, pool tables, a great selection of local and international spirits, and loud party music that lasts until the small hours of the morning. They also offer varied forms of entertainment that are similar to other red-light districts around Thailand.
