Other more challenging and exciting routes involve taking the monk’s trail which leads up to Wat Pha Lat, from where you can have a short break. Afterwards, head for the main road, walk for a few kilometres, until you see the beginning of a short hiking trail. Follow the trail to the waterfalls where you can unwind.
The Monthathan waterfall is so accessible from town that you can opt for a half-day or full-day tour. It’s close enough to town, but once you get here, you’ll feel like you’re in a pristine tropical jungle far away from the city. Keep your eyes peeled on the way here because you might stumble on one of the many beautiful butterflies, birds, insects, or other wildlife who live within the Doi Suthep National Park.
To get the most out of your day, leaving the city centre early in the morning is highly recommended.
