Patara Elephant Farm

The Patara Elephant Farm is one of the best animal experiences in Chiang Mai. Compared to other sanctuaries, what makes this place unique is that it provides a more intimate encounter with these majestic animals.

If you’d like to interact with elephants and get up close with them, this activity is highly recommended and will likely be the highlight of your trip!

Patara Elephant Farm, Tour Cost, Riding, Experiences, Chiang Mai

Immerse yourself in a fun, hands-on experience where you get to take care of an elephant for a day. It’s an excellent activity for all ages, and will truly leave you with a newfound love for these amazing creatures.

The farm offers various packages that can be enjoyed either half-day or full-day. The Elephant Owner For A Day is a fantastic package that teaches you what it’s like to take care of your very own elephant. You’ll get to participate in specific tasks as any owner would; such as training, feeding, checking its health, bathing and brushing in the river, learning how to ride its neck, and even communication through spoken commands. Elephant Day Care is a shorter package that allows you to learn how to properly love and care for smaller or pregnant elephants.

Bring along a change of clothes when you visit the farm. All activities here are interactive, and you’ll probably get a little dirty or wet as you bathe and care for the elephants, but that’s all part of the fun. Due to the one-on-one nature of the activities here among elephants and tourists, there is only a limited number of participants daily. You’ll have to reserve a slot ahead of time; otherwise, you may not be able to get a booking.

Everyone is welcome at the Patara Farm, including children and people with disabilities.
