Wat Muen San Temple History, Opening Hours & Address, Chiang Mai

The temple has deep cultural significance to the villagers because it is located Wua Lai Village, which is renowned for its talented silversmiths. This is where you can find breathtaking silver works of all kinds, most notably this temple, which is easily the most beautiful silver work of art in northern Thailand. The local community engages in merit-making by creating embossed silver pieces, which are given to the temple as offerings.

As you walk in and out of the temple, it’s hard not to be captivated by all the silver work seen here. Visitors can appreciate the works of art even more because this temple doesn’t get too full or crowded, unlike the others nearby. It’s a terrific temple for admiring true Thai craftsmanship and culture. If you are lucky, you may even see one or more of the villagers within the temple grounds doing some work.

Wat Muen San also houses three wax statues of monks, a workshop, and a silver museum. There is also a memorial dedicated to Japanese soldiers because, in history, Japan and Thailand were allies during the war.

It is located on a busy street, but the temple grounds are serene and peaceful. Make sure that you bring a camera because this is one temple that you’re going to want to remember.

The Wat Muen San temple is located on Wualai Road in Chiang Mai. It is open daily during daylight hours; admission is free, but you may donate if you feel inclined.
