There are rarely any crowds here, which ensures you’ll have a quiet visit. If you visit at the right time, you may even find yourself admiring the chanting monks. This is one of the most highly revered worship and work sites for monks, which makes for a truly authentic Chiang Mai experience if you stumble on them within the temple grounds.
Chiang Mai has more than 300 temples, and it may be a challenge to get to fit them all in your itinerary when you visit. But seeing the Wat Pan Waen will be worth it, as it is different from all the others with its unique designs.
Before you visit this temple or any other for that matter, visitors should keep in mind that it’s necessary to go in the proper modest clothing otherwise you risk being banned entrance. Both men and women should cover legs, arms, and shoulders, even if it means just temporarily placing a sarong on when you enter a temple. Be courteous and respectful to all the monks that you come across, and observe silence.
