Chiang Mai Nightlife

Chiang Mai’s Nightlife is wide and varied depending on what you want to do! Whether you want to sit back and enjoy a quiet drink in a bar, enjoy a market, have a dance in a nightclub, catch a movie or go absolutely wild, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

There are three main areas where the nightlife is at its best and they are; Loy Kroh Road, Nimman and Zoe’s.

Chiang Mai Nightlife Area Guide, Girlie Bars, Nightclubs & Rooftop Drinks

Loy Kroh Road is best known for the bars (and the ladies) that line the streets. Popular with men looking to pick up a Thai wife for the night, Loy Kroh Road is the seedy part of Chiang Mai with girly bars as far as the eye can see. That said, you can still grab a nice meal in one of the many restaurants located here and enjoy the Night Bazaar market which is on every night from 6pm – 11pm.

Most of the younger crowd tends to gravitate to Zoe’s, a collection of bars in a walking street area where you can eat, drink, play pool and dance the night away. Zoe’s has a couple of bars which are more laid back, but as the night rolls on, most people will spill out onto the streets into a massive party which goes until the wee hours of the morning. Zoes is located in the old city on Rajvithi Road.

If you are looking for something a little more chilled, take the lift up to the rooftop of Maya Mall, located near the popular Nimman area. There are a number of bars up here which play music, often live artists, and you can enjoy a drink and socialise as you view the city from the roof of this massive mall. Drinks are a little more expensive that you would pay in the streets below, but the view can’t be beat. Furama on Huay Kaew Rd is also another great option for rooftop bars in this area.

Other ideas to enjoy at night-time include; seeing a movie at Maya Mall, go bowling, enjoy a karaoke session, get a massage, go to the Night Safari Zoo or watch a Muay Thai boxing match! Chiang Mai Nightlife really has no end, so get out and about and enjoy this amazing city after dark!

    • Hi Guy,

Anywhere in the Nimman area (along Nimmanhaemin Road) is good, as there are heaps of bars and clubs in this area. You could also try anywhere around “Zoes”, which is a collection of bars and nightclubs on a large street block and is located about 650 metres north of Tha Phae Gate.

Check out the following links and insert your dates for the best hotels in those areas:
      Nimman
      Old City

In addition, the Le Meridian Hotel is located right near the nightly Night Bazaar and is one of the best hotels in Chiang Mai.

      Kind regards,
      Jess
